YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND THUGGERY IN NIGERIA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines youth involvement in political violence and thuggery in Nigeria. It explores the causes, effects and possible solutions to the increasing rate of youth participation in violent political activities.
The study reveals that unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and manipulation by political elites are major factors responsible for youth involvement in political violence.
It further shows that such involvement leads to instability, loss of lives and properties and hinders national development.
The study recommends the creation of employment opportunities, proper education, and strict enforcement of laws to reduce youth involvement in political violence.
