Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the effect of organizational culture on employee performance, with a focused case study on First Bank Nigeria Plc, Aba. Organizational culture plays a critical role in shaping employee attitudes, behaviors, and overall productivity within an organization. The research examines how elements such as leadership style, communication systems, values, norms, and work environment influence employee performance. A descriptive research design was adopted, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to employees of the bank. The findings reveal that a positive organizational culture significantly enhances employee performance by fostering motivation, job satisfaction, teamwork, and commitment. Conversely, a weak or negative culture leads to poor performance, low morale, and reduced productivity. The study concludes that organizational culture is a key determinant of employee performance and recommends that management should actively cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture to achieve organizational goals.
