Findings indicate that proverbs serve not only as a means of expression but also as a foundational resource for conflict mediation, empowering individuals to navigate disputes with cultural sensitivity. This study contributes to the understanding of indigenous conflict resolution mechanisms, and underscores the importance of preserving cultural wisdom in contemporary conflict management practices. Conflict mediation among the Isoko people of Delta State, Nigeria, is deeply embedded in traditional institutions and cultural expressions, particularly the use of proverbs. This paper examines the pivotal role that cultural proverbs play in mediating conflicts within Isoko communities, offering insight into how indigenous knowledge systems foster peace and social harmony. Proverbs, in Isoko oral tradition, are more than rhetorical devices; they are repositories of collective wisdom, encapsulating moral values, communal expectations, and historical experiences. Often employed by elders, traditional rulers, and mediators during dispute resolution processes, these proverbs serve to articulate complex social norms in relatable and persuasive ways. Through qualitative ethnographic research, including in-depth interviews with community leaders, elders, and local mediators, this study reveals that proverbs function as tools for indirect communication, allowing disputants to save face while confronting sensitive issues. They are often used to reduce tension, highlight the consequences of discord, promote reconciliation, and restore broken relationships
