Abstract

Using fingerprint technology for attendance or any other form of identification is highly advisable because it makes use of a unique pattern of prints for every individual which makes it faster, secure, and more accurate than any other biometrical technology available which led to the development of this project. This project introduces an advanced attendance system that is flexible, inexpensive, easy to use and can easily be upgraded rather than the subsequent paper and pen mean of taking attendance in the classrooms. The fingerprint-based attendance system was designed with a Bluetooth module which was achieved by initially developing an android application studio. The creation of a database for the student's information, the construction of the plastic container box which contain the fingerprint scanner, boards, mini capacitive fingerprint reader, rechargeable 12V Lithium polymer (LIPO) and the overall assembling of all components. The work comprises of both software me hardware components such as Android studio, Arduino studio and Micro-code are the software tools used while Bluetooth module (HC-05 module). Mini capacitive fingerprint reader, 3800mAH battery, 16 × 2 LCD are some of the hardware components used.
