Abstract

ABSTRACT Strategic planning has become an essential management tool for organizations seeking to improve efficiency, accountability, and overall performance. This study examines the impact of strategic planning on organizational performance in public institutions. The main objective of the study is to determine how strategic planning influences productivity, service delivery, and goal attainment within public sector organizations. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to selected staff of public institutions, while secondary data were obtained from relevant textbooks, journals, and official reports. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages and tables. Findings from the study revealed that effective strategic planning significantly improves organizational performance by enhancing resource allocation, promoting accountability, and facilitating the achievement of organizational goals. However, the study also identified challenges such as inadequate funding, poor implementation, and lack of staff participation in the planning process. Based on these findings, the study recommends that public institutions should strengthen their strategic planning processes, involve employees in decision-making, and ensure adequate monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to enhance organizational performance.
