DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ATTENDANCE TRACKINGSYSTEMUSING GEOLOCATION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project focuses on designing and implementing a geolocation-based attendancetracking system tailored for educational institutions. Traditional attendance methodsoften suffer from inaccuracies and manipulation, necessitating a more reliable solution. By leveraging GPS technology, this system aims to automate attendance recording, thereby enhancing accuracy and efficiency in managing student presence. Themethodology involved developing a mobile application that utilizes GPS coordinates toverify student locations against predefined geofenced areas. The systemarchitectureincludes a smartphone application, integration with Google Maps API for geolocation, and a secure database for storing attendance records. Comprehensive testingwasconducted to ensure functionality, including unit testing, integration testing, anduser
acceptance testing. The results demonstrated significant improvements in attendanceaccuracy and reduced administrative workload, with users reporting a positive experiencedue to the convenience of automated check-ins and real-time monitoring. In conclusion, the geolocation-based attendance tracking system effectively addresses the challenges of
traditional attendance management. It is recommended that future enhancements includeintegrating artificial intelligence for predictive analytics and expanding offlinefunctionality to accommodate users in areas with poor internet connectivity
