Abstract

ABSTRACT This project focuses on the design and implementation of a facial verification, RFID, and fingerprint door system that integrates facial verification and RFID technology, with fingerprint authentication as a backup, to control human access to secured areas. The system is designed to enhance security, convenience, and automation in residential, commercial, and institutional environments RFID cards is used as the primary means of identification due to its speed and contactless nature. Facial verification provides an alternative method of access for authorized users, while fingerprint recognition serves as a reliable backup in case the primary methods fail. The system is powered by a microcontroller and incorporates a camera module, RFID reader, fingerprint sensor, and electronic lock. Software components handle image processing, RFID tag validation, and biometric matching. The prototype was tested successfully, demonstrating high accuracy, fast response time, and improved security over traditional key-based systems. This multi-factor authentication system offers a flexible and robust solution for modern human access control. During testing four key access scenarios were evaluated to validate system performance. Scenario one, which involve a valid tag and matching facial verification, resulted in immediate access approval, demonstrating seamless operation under normal authorized condition. Scenario two, involves a valid RFID tag but mismatched face recognition, triggered the use of a fingerprint verification, upon providing a valid fingerprint, access was granted, demonstrating the effectiveness of the fall back authentication system. Scenario three, valid tag with unregistered user, where a valid tag was presented by an unregistered user, the RFID reader detects the card but the system fails to recognize both facial and fingerprint due to unregistered data. Scenario four, no record found, representing a completely unregistered individual with no valid RFID or biometric data in the system, the system consequently deny access and did not display any message on the interface.
