Abstract

ABSTRACT The production of emulsion paint with the incorporation of silicon dioxide and aluminium silicate represents an innovative approach aimed at improving the mechanical, chemical, and aesthetic properties of conventional water-based coatings. This study investigates the formulation process, performance evaluation, and comparative advantages of emulsion paint produced with these additives. Silicon dioxide, a widely known filler and reinforcing agent, was utilized to enhance hardness, abrasion resistance, and durability of the paint film, while aluminium silicate was introduced as an extender pigment to improve opacity, dispersion stability, and cost-effectiveness. Standard paint formulation procedures were adopted, involving pigment dispersion, emulsion blending, and additive integration under controlled conditions. The resulting paint samples were subjected to quality tests such as viscosity measurement, pH determination, opacity analysis, adhesion, and drying time evaluation. Experimental results demonstrated that the inclusion of Silicon dioxide improved the paint’s wear resistance and surface finish, while aluminium silicate contributed significantly to coverage power and smooth application. The combined effects of these materials yielded an emulsion paint of enhanced performance suitable for both decorative and protective purposes, with improved resistance to environmental degradation. This work highlights the potential of mineral-based fillers in advancing sustainable, high-quality, and cost-efficient paint formulations that meet industrial standards and consumer demands.
