A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BLOOD PRESSURE, AGE, HEIGHT, WEIGHT AND HOURS OF EXERCISE (A CASE OF ENUGU METROPOLIS)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project examined the relationship between blood pressure, age, height, weight, and physical exercise using the multiple regression technique. The study aimed to obtain a model that explains the variation in the blood pressure. Cross-sectional data of 64 adults obtained from the records of UNTH, Enugu, was used in the study. The fitted model has a poor fit. The predictors were all statistically insignificant and had no effect on the systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Height has a negative or decreasing insignificant effect on systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Weight has a negative/decreasing and positive/negative insignificant effect on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respectively. Age has a negative/declining and positive/incremental insignificant effect on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respectively. Hours of exercise have a negative/declining and positive/increasing insignificant effect on systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respectively.
