Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the growth performance and cost implications of different parts of Adenopus breviflorus meal on weaner rabbits in an eight weeks feeding trial. A total of twenty four (24) weaner rabbit of mixed breed of age ranging from six to eight weeks with an average initial weight of 656.60g, 654.92g and 656.72g for T1, T2 and T3 respectively were used for the study. Three experimental diets were formulated comprising 0% of Adenopus breviflorus meal, 10% of Adenopus breviflorus leaf meal and 10% Adenopus breviflorus pod meal for treatment 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The rabbit were allocated randomly to the three different treatment diets designated as T1, T2, and T3 with eight replicates per treatment. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD), significant differences were separated using Duncan's multiple range test. At the end of the feeding trial which lasted for 56 days, growth performance parameters (feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio) were determined. Results obtained showed a significant (p> 0.05) differences among different treatments groups. Increased weight gain from rabbit fed T2 (1197.08g) followed by those fed with T1 (1003.10g) while the least was recorded for those fed with T3 (921.15). Feed intake significantly (P
