Abstract

This study conducts a comparative analysis of e-learning platforms used by Nigerian students, with a focus on their accessibility, affordability, content relevance, interactivity, and overall effectiveness in supporting learning outcomes. The research investigates the experiences of students from selected tertiary institutions in Nigeria who have used platforms such as uLesson, Edukoya, Coursera, and Khan Academy. The findings reveal that while local platforms like uLesson and Edukoya offer curriculum-aligned content and offline access, international platforms like Coursera provide high-quality content but often lack contextual relevance and require stable internet connectivity. The study highlights the challenges hindering the adoption of e-learning in Nigeria, including poor internet infrastructure, high data costs, limited digital literacy, and lack of standardized evaluation frameworks for e-learning platforms. The research also underscores the need for inclusive and context-sensitive platform design, emphasizing features such as offline access, interactive content, and personalized learning paths. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and developers seeking to promote equitable and effective digital learning solutions in Nigeria and similar contexts. By informing the development of more responsive and sustainable e-learning ecosystems, this study contributes to the ongoing discourse on digital transformation in African education.
