Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing prevalence of examination fraud has prompted educational institutions to seek innovative solutions toensure the integrity of assessment processes. This paper presents the development of an Examination Verification System (EVS) utilizing biometric technology to enhance security and streamline the verification of candidates during examinations. The proposed system leverages biometric identifiers such as fingerprints, facial recognition, and iris scans to authenticate candidates before and during assessments. The system architecture comprises three main components: biometric data acquisition, a secure database for storing biometric templates, and a user interfacefor administrators and candidates. We employ advanced algorithms to ensure accurate matching and reduce false acceptance or rejection rates. The implementation of this system not only minimizes the risk of impersonation but also fosters a more efficient examination process, allowing for real-time monitoring and verification. Initial pilot testing in selected educational institutions indicates a significant reduction in examination malpractice, with users reporting increased confidence in the integrity of the assessment process. The findingssuggest that the integration of biometric verification in examinations could serve as a model for other sectors facing similar challenges. Future work will focus on enhancing the system's scalability, user experience, and integration with existing educational frameworks.
