Abstract

Changes in weather affects wireless RF signals propagation. This study assessed the impact of variations in atmospheric temperature and humidity on RF signals transmitted at 88.90 MHz from the Crown FM radio station in Warri Delta State. RF signal strength data were obtained using the mini spectrum analyser, map area calculator mobile app was used to calculate the distance while the google map mobile app was used to find the location of the radio station Crown Fm, Weather mobile app used to obtain atmospheric temperature and humidity data. The various measurements were taken at 1km intervals from the transmission station up to a distance of 10km at three different times of the day (morning, afternoon, and evening). Data collection was carried out for 3 days. Results obtained from the collected data showed humidity is directly proportional to signal strength while temperature is slightly inversely proportional to signal strength.
