DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN OVERLOAD PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR A TRANSFORMER
Abstract
This project presents the design and development of an Overload Protection Transformer System aimed at preventing transformer damage caused by excessive load conditions. The proposed system employs an Arduino Nano microcontroller integrated with current and voltage sensors to monitor the transformer’s operating parameters in real time. When an overload is detected, the system automatically disconnects the transformer from the load using a relay and simultaneously triggers visual alerts. The output is displayed on an LCD, ensuring quick response and reduced downtime. The system provides accurate and reliable overload detection, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and lifespan of power transformers. The design and implementation of this protection scheme demonstrate the potential of an Arduino Nano microcontroller technology in improving transformer reliability and ensuring uninterrupted power supply in electrical distribution network
