THE EFFECT OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF CRASSULACEA AND BISOPROLOL ON ANTIOXIDANT MARKER IN DOXOROBOSIN INDUCED CARDIOTOXICITY
Abstract
The study aim to evaluate the effect of ethanolic leaf extract of crassulacea and bisoprolol on antioxidant marker in doxorobosin induced cardiotoxicity. About 28 wistar rats weighing about 150-250g were used for the study. The animals were allowed to acclimatize for one week the body weights of the animals were recorded every day using a weighing balance before administration. The treatment lasted for twenty-eight (28) days, and the animals were randomly divided into four (4) groups. Group I the control group (fed with water only), Group II Crasulacea (fed with 0.001ml/kg of crasulacea orally, Group III Bisoprolol (fed with 0.005ml/kg of doxorobucin intraperitoneally), Group IV Bisoprolol + crassulacea group (fed with 0.005ml of dox intraperitoneally + 0.001ml/kg of crassulacea orally). The study findings revealed that serum SOD showed a significant lower level (P
