DEVELOPMENT OF SOLAR-WIND HYBRID SYSTEM
Abstract
Renewable energy sources are plentiful and available all around us but not utilized as expected to problem in our environment. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas on the other hand, are nonrenewable energy sources that take hundreds of millions of years to form. Fossil fuels, when burned to produce energy, cause harmful greenhouse gas emission, such as carbon dioxide.
Generating renewable energy creates far lower emissions than burning fossil fuels.
Transitioning from fossil fuels, which currently account for the lion’s share of emission, to the Renewable energy which is the solution to climatic crisis. Therefore, this work aims at the production of energy through solar and wind energy sources. Solar energy is most abundant of all energy resource and can even be harnessed in cloudy weather but at night solar energy become inactive or may be unstable and frequently inconsistent. To overcome the periods solar energy supplies are unavailable, it is necessary to hybridize the power generation solar energy sources with battery banks as the storage.
In this work we used some components such Solar panel, MTTP charge controller, Cables, Jumper wires, Batteries. We did the installation of the project by following some systematics step which are site preparation process, design and planning, mount installation,
Inverter installation, and etc. After the installation the system we collected some data of the solar system which are the voltage and current at difference stage of a day i.e morning, afternoon and evening, then we determined the efficiency and its effectiveness.
Likewise, we collected data on wind turbine and plotted a graph of windspeed against the its power output.
