Abstract

CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTIONS 1.1 Background of the Study In today’s digital age, video has become one of the most powerful mediums of communication. From social media content to television broadcasts, marketing campaigns, video plays a crucial role in how we share information and express creativity. Video editing is the process of manipulating and rearranging video shots to create a new work. It involves tasks such as cutting segments (trimming), re-sequencing clips, adding transitions, visual effects, sound effects, and music, among others. The evolution of video editing technology has transitioned from linear editing using videotape to non-linear editing using software applications. Modern editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and others have made it possible for both professionals and amateurs to produce high-quality video content. Video editing is now an essential skill in media production, journalism, education, entertainment, and business. 1.2 Statement of the Problem Despite the growing importance of video content, many individuals and organizations struggle to effectively utilize video editing tools due to a lack of knowledge and technical skill. Beginners often face challenges with complex software interfaces, understanding basic editing principles, and achieving professional-quality output. There is also a need for more accessible and structured learning resources that guide new users in mastering the fundamental techniques of video editing. Aims of the study To produce and edit videos for the purpose of teaching and learning 1.3 Objectives of the Study The objective of this project is to provide a comprehensive overview of video editing, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. The specific objectives are: i.To explain the basic concepts of video editing. ii.To identify and describe common video editing tools and software. iii.To demonstrate the key techniques involved in video editing using premiere pro iv.To produce and edit videos for learning and editing skills 1.4 Significance of the Study This project is significant because it serves as a useful resource for students, content creators, and anyone interested in video production. Understanding video editing empowers individuals to produce more engaging and effective visual content. Furthermore, as video continues to dominate digital communication, skills in editing open up career opportunities and enhance storytelling capabilities in various industries. 1.5 Scope and Limitations This project focuses on linear video editing using premiere pro. It covers basic to intermediate editing techniques, including cutting, trimming, adding transitions, effects, and sound. Advanced topics such as color grading, motion graphics, and 3D editing are mentioned briefly but not discussed in detail. The project is limited to widely-used software like Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. 1.6 Definition of Terms Linear Editing (LE) progressing from one stage to another in a single series of steps sequential Transition: Visual effects used to move from one scene to another. Rendering: The process of generating a final video file from the edited sequence.
