Abstract

Water layaci ntlj is one of the most invasive species of aquatic weeds. Its effects on water cJiial ity |oroperties was tested on a FAD AMA area, at U nivers ity of Abuja. Water samples were co Ilcctcd 1rorn the watci body and tested on different parameters. Water parameters iaacasured were; odour of water, water colour, temperature, turbidity, total dissolved solids ( I US), electrical conducti vity (EC), hardness, A rnmonia-N itrogen, free carborn dioxide, phosphor its. pt-I, d issol ved Oxysen (DO), biocliemical oxygen demand (BOD), chem ical oxygen deiaahid (COD), tota I oxygen demand (TOD), Calcium, and Magnesium. All the laboratory data on water parameters were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) using the Genstat statistical tool Version 12 and where statistical differences were observed, the naeuns ii erc separated using New Duncan Multiple Range Test (NDMRT) at 5 to level of pi obab il ity. I he resit Its collated showed that Calcium did not vary significantly (pñ0.05) but otlaci alaysical and chem icnl properties across the sampled points varied significantly (p
