AN EVALUATION EFFECT OF CASSIA OCCIDENTALIS LEAVES AQUEOUS EXTRACT ON BLOOD CHEMISTRY PARAMETERS IN RATS.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Cassia occidentalis is a medicinal plant used for the treatment of various diseases. The study
was designed to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of Cassia occidentalis leaves on some
blood chemistry parameters in experimental rats. The blood levels of sodium, glucose and urea
were determined according to the guide lines provided in their respective assay kits. Results
obtained showed the lowest values of sodium and glucose in group received 50mg/kg of the
extract compared to control group while group administered 100mg/kg had the lowest level of
urea. In conclusion, the aqueous leaf extracts of Cassia occidentalis has no significant effect on
sodium, glucose and urea blood levels in experimental rats
