Abstract

This study investigates the comparative study of the performance of UTME and Direct Entry Chemistry Education students in UNIDEL. To achieve this objective, four research questions and corresponding null hypotheses were formulated. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 160 respondents from four academic sessions in the Chemistry Education Department, providing the data for analysis. The hypotheses were tested using the chi-square test statistics at 5% level of significance. The finding indicates a strong dependence relationship between the academic performance of UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Chemistry Education Students in UNIDEL. The study concludes with recommendation, that further studies should be conducted to investigate the long-term performance and retention rates UTME and Direct Entry students in Chemistry Education
