Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the relationship between study habits and academic achievement among adult learners in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council. Adult learners face unique challenges balancing their academic pursuits with personal and professional responsibilities, making effective study habits essential for their success. The research adopts a descriptive survey design, utilizing questionnaires to collect data from a sample of adult learners enrolled in various educational programs. The study explores key aspects of study habits, including time management, learning strategies, and study environment, and how these factors correlate with academic performance. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive and inferential statistics to assess the significance of the relationship. The findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between good study habits and high academic achievement among adult learners. Learners who consistently apply effective study techniques, maintain structured schedules, and engage in active learning strategies tend to perform better academically. Conversely, poor study habits, such as lack of focus and irregular study routines, were associated with lower academic achievement. The study concludes that fostering good study habits is crucial for improving academic outcomes among adult learners. Recommendations are provided for educators and learners to enhance study practices and promote lifelong learning in the adult education context.
