Abstract

This study presents the perimeter and detailed survey of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), Yola, Adamawa State. The primary objectives were to establish precise perimeter boundaries, produce a comprehensive digital map, and develop a 3D Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the hospital. Reconnaissance surveys, perimeter traversing, and detailing of natural and artificial features were carried out using modern instruments such as GPS receivers and AutoCAD Civil 3D for processing and visualization. Data acquisition involved angular and linear measurements, complemented by detailing utilities, road networks, and structural footprints. The processed results produced a digital survey plan, a geo-referenced map adaptable for GIS integration, and a terrain model useful for mobility analysis and emergency response. The study confirmed the importance of perimeter surveys in defining land ownership, preventing encroachment, and supporting infrastructure development. The digital outputs provide hospital administrators with tools for effective planning, resource allocation, and facility expansion. In line with existing literature, the research highlights the benefits of incorporating geoinformatics, GIS, and 3D visualization in healthcare facility management. The results are significant for promoting efficient land use planning, reducing conflicts over boundaries, and enhancing emergency preparedness. It is recommended that MAUTH update its digital map regularly, integrate survey outputs into a GIS platform, and train staff in spatial data interpretation. Ultimately, this study establishes a reliable geospatial database that will support sustainable hospital management and long-term development strategies.
