Abstract

ABSTRACT Water is essential for human survival, and its quality is crucial for public health. This study aimed to determine the physical parameters (pH, temperature, total dissolved solids, and turbidity) of water samples from Gadau, a region with limited water quality data. The study collected water samples from 3 locations in Gadau, including Faculty of science, faculty of basic medical science and pharmaceutical science. Physical parameters were measured using standardized instruments: pH meter, thermometer, total dissolved solids (TDS) meter, and turbidimeter. pH values ranged from 6.5 to 8.5, indicating slightly acidic to alkaline conditions. Temperature ranged from 85.2, 84.9, and 85.5°F, within the acceptable range. TDS levels varied from 100 to 1000 mg/L, exceeding WHO standards in some areas. Turbidity levels ranged from 0.5 to5 or 10 NTU, indicating moderate to high levels of suspended particles. The findings have implications for public health, agriculture, and environmental management in Gadau. Regular monitoring and management of water resources are recommended to ensure safe and sustainable water supply.
