Abstract

iv ABSTRACTS Water is very essential to life. Although it is quite appealing that many people do not have access to clean and safe water especially for drinking and as a result, many lose their lives because of water borne bacterial infections recorded yearly. However, this study was conducted to determine thebacteriological quality of bottled water soled in Calabar Metropolis. Ten samples were obtained from different water production companies and evaluated using standard bacteriological techniques. revealed the present of mostly bacterial species from the Bacillaceae family (Bacillus) the percentage frequency ranged from 9.37% to .43.75% with the most frequent occurring bacteria being Bacillus spp and the least frequency being Aeromonas spp respectively. Findings of this study shows that Spring Water had the least value bacterial count of 1.5 x 109 and Mangero water had 9.4 x 109. Few
