Abstract

This study investigates the phytochemical constituents of the ethanol extract of Persea americana (avocado) seeds. Despite the nutritional value of the avocado fruit, the seeds are typically treated as waste. Qualitative phytochemical screening was performed to identify the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. The ethanol extraction method was utilized to ensure the recovery of a broad range of bioactive compounds. Results revealed high concentrations of flavonoids and tannins, suggesting significant antioxidant and antimicrobial potential. These findings highlight the potential of Persea americana seeds as a cost-effective source of natural therapeutic agents in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
