DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED CATALOGING SYSTEM FOR MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY, YOLA
Abstract
The rapid growth of information in academic institutions has created a need for efficient cataloging systems that can facilitate quick access, retrieval, and management of resources. Traditional cataloging systems in many universities are manual, time-consuming, and prone to errors, making it difficult for students and staff to locate learning materials effectively.
This project titled 'Design and Implementation of a Web-Based Cataloging System for Modibbo Adama University' aims to design and develop an online cataloging system that allows students, lecturers, and librarians to efficiently store, search, retrieve, and manage academic resources. The system was designed using [specify tools e.g., PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript] and implemented to provide a user-friendly interface with secure and reliable access. The findings of this study reveal that the system improves accessibility, reduces delays, minimizes duplication of records, and enhances the overall efficiency of the cataloging process at Modibbo Adama University. The project therefore recommends the adoption of this web-based cataloging system to replace the traditional methods of cataloging, thereby supporting academic excellence through improved information management.
