Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the role of online information dissemination in promoting proper waste management practices in Abia State, Nigeria. With increasing environmental challenges driven by poor waste disposal habits, digital platforms have emerged as powerful tools for awareness creation and behavioral change. The research adopts a mixed-method approach, combining survey data and qualitative insights to evaluate how effectively online channels such as social media, blogs, and government websites influence public understanding and participation in waste management. Findings reveal that while awareness levels have improved due to digital exposure, practical implementation remains inconsistent due to infrastructural limitations, cultural habits, and lack of enforcement. The study concludes that online dissemination is impactful but must be supported by policy enforcement and physical waste management systems.
