ROLES OF BROADCAST MEDIA ON SPORT DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA (A STUDY OF LORI PAPA ON FRESH FM 105.9)
Abstract
Based on the finding of this study, the following conclusions were made:
• Broadcasting live sporting activities is the duty of a sport journalist.
• Broadcast media have been helpful in developing sport in Nigeria.
• Sport journalists are meant to watch sporting activities
• The level of coverage given to sporting event by Fresh FM Ibadan (Lori Papa) is not poor.
• Lori papa on Fresh FM Ibadan have been sensitizing her listeners on sport generally.
• Fresh FM's Lori papa program promotes sport to her audience. Electronic media broadcast on sporting activities in Nigeria is encouraging.
• Sport journalism enhances sport development in Nigeria.
• The effectiveness of sport journalism in Nigeria is high.
• Printed media broadcasting in sport does not surpass that of electronic media.
• The sporting activities broadcasted by Nigerian media is limited.
