PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF MOBILE NETWORK OPERATOR (MNO’S) IN KUBWA, ABUJA METROPOLIS
Abstract
This study evaluates the performance of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Kubwa, Abuja Metropolis, focusing on network availability, signal strength, internet data speed, voice call quality, customer satisfaction, and affordability of mobile plans. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 1000+ mobile network users through surveys and drive tests, complemented by secondary data from regulatory reports.
Findings reveal that MTN and Airtel lead in network performance and customer satisfaction, demonstrating higher availability, stronger signal strength, faster data speeds, and better voice call quality compared to Glo and 9mobile. Challenges identified include network congestion during peak hours, infrastructure gaps in some residential areas, and inconsistent customer service.
The study recommends targeted infrastructure expansion, adoption of advanced technologies, improved customer engagement, and collaborative regulatory oversight to enhance mobile network services in Kubwa. These improvements are crucial for supporting the socio-economic development of the area and ensuring equitable access to quality telecommunications services.
