EFFECTS OF REWARD MANAGEMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY IN SELECTED FAST-FOOD OUTLETS IN AGBOR, DELTA STATE
Abstract
This study examined the impact of reward management practices on organizational sustainability in selected fast-food outlets in Agbor, Delta State. The specific dimensions of reward management explored were salaries and wages, bonuses, and recognition, while organizational sustainability was evaluated in terms of workforce retention, operational efficiency, and long-term business continuity. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and a total of 139 structured questionnaires were distributed, out of which 130 were duly completed and returned. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, including multiple regression analysis, with the aid of SPSS version 26. The findings revealed that all four dimensions of reward management significantly influence organizational sustainability. Salaries and wages emerged as the most influential factor, followed closely by recognition, bonuses, and fringe benefits. The study concludes that effective reward management is integral to achieving organizational sustainability in the fast-food industry. In the context of Agbor, Delta State, where competition among fast-food outlets is increasing, the ability to attract, retain, and motivate staff through well-designed reward systems is a vital determinant of long-term viability. Reward strategies that are transparent, fair, and comprehensive not only improve employee satisfaction but also enhance organizational performance, customer satisfaction, and operational continuity. It was recommended among others that Fast-food outlet managers should review and adjust salary structures regularly to reflect economic realities and industry benchmarks and organizations should design bonus schemes that are performance-driven, objective, and clearly communicated to employees.
