Abstract

This compilation features two research projects focused on advancing sustainable architecture in Nigeria. The first study evaluates the architectural integration and performance of solar energy installations as a green architecture component in public institutions, using the FCMB Bank Yola Pension Branch as a case study. It examines the design strategies employed, assesses the energy and environmental benefits, and identifies implementation challenges. The second study investigates the integration of green building materials into sustainable and affordable housing for medium-income populations. It identifies suitable materials, assesses local availability, and proposes design and policy strategies for their effective use. Both studies underscore the technical and economic feasibility of green building practices in the Nigerian context and offer recommendations for architects, developers, and policymakers to promote a more sustainable and resilient built environment.
