Abstract

This study focuses on the phytochemical analysis of tomato juice to identify the bioactive compounds responsible for its nutritional and medicinal properties. Tomatoes are widely consumed for their flavor, nutritional value, and health benefits, yet understanding their specific phytochemical composition is essential for evaluating their therapeutic potential. The study employed standard laboratory methods to detect the presence of key phytochemicals, including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, and glycosides. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were conducted to determine the concentration and distribution of these compounds in tomato juice samples. Results revealed that tomato juice contains significant amounts of flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and saponins, while alkaloids and tannins were present in moderate concentrations. These compounds are known to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, highlighting the health-promoting potential of tomato juice. The study concludes that tomato juice is a rich source of phytochemicals with potential nutritional and therapeutic benefits. It recommends increased consumption of tomato juice as part of a balanced diet and encourages further research to explore its applications in food, nutraceuticals, and medicinal products.
