Abstract

The textural analysis study of sandstone was carried out in Nchan-Abua and Ananammong in Ini Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria using sieve analysis to ascertain the sandstone provenance. Environment of deposition and paleoenvironment. Grain size value were determined through sieving analysis and the value of phi 5, phi 16, phi 25, phi 50, phi 75, phi 84, and phi 95 through plotting the cumulative frequency histogram of cumulative weight percent against phi values. Mean grain size, sorting, graphic kurtosis and skewness were computer using the values and with their formulae. From the result of the analyses, mean graphic mean 0.93, mean inclusive graphic sorting 3.13, mean skewness 0.09 and mean kurtosis 1.05, indicate that the sandstone was deposited in a riverine environment with medium to coarse grain size.
