Abstract

Heart attacks are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, often occurring without prior warning due to undetected irregularities in heart activity. Early detection of abnormal heartbeat can significantly reduce the risk of sudden cardiac arrest by enabling timely medical intervention. This project presents the design and construction of a heart attack detection system using heartbeat sensing technology. The system employs a MAX30100 heartbeat sensor to monitor pulse signals, which are processed by an ESP32 microcontroller. The measured heartbeat is displayed in beats per minute (BPM) on an LCD screen. To improve reliability, the system is programmed with threshold values. Whenever the heartbeat falls below or rises above the safe range, an alert mechanism through a buzzer and LED is activated. In addition, the system sends an emergency email notification to caregivers through Wi-Fi connectivity. The developed system provides a portable, low-cost, and user-friendly solution for continuous heart rate monitoring and early detection of potential heart attack conditions.
