Abstract

This project focuses on the development of a portable staircase trolley designed to assist users in transporting heavy loads up and down stairs with reduced physical force. This trolley was Constructed primarily from mild steel for a balance of strength and portability. The trolley incorporates a tri-wheel mechanism to ensure stable stair navigation and an adjustable, padded handle for ergonomic comfort. The trolley was design for a load capacity of 50 kg, however this can slightly increase but should not exceed 1.2 of this capacity. It is also suitable for a range of applications but cannot be used for stairs that are too high. Results showed that the trolley’s structure and wheel configuration maintained stability and ease of use on standard staircases, while user feedback highlighted the effectiveness of the ergonomic features. In conclusion, the portable staircase trolley successfully meets its design objectives, offering a practical and safe solution for stair navigation, with minor adjustments suggested to enhance adaptability and safety further.
