Abstract

In Nigeria, mass media plays a significant role in shaping public opinion and managing crises. Over the years, radio has been identified as one of the most effective and accessible media platforms, especially in rural areas where other forms of media might not be as accessible (Adewale, 2012). Premier FM Ibadan, a popular radio station in southwestern Nigeria, is one example of a local radio station that plays an important role in crisis communication. According to Oyedemi (2014), radio stations like Premier FM serve as key players in managing emergencies such as floods, fires, and health crises, by providing crucial information on evacuation routes, emergency contacts, and safety procedures. Radio's ability to reach a large and diverse audience, including people with low literacy levels, makes it especially important in crisis situations where clear and understandable communication is critical.
