EFFECT OF INADEQUATE EQUIPMENT IN THE TRAINING OF OTM STUDENTS IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN EKITI STATE

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to ascertain the effect of inadequate equipment on the training of OTM students in tertiary Institutions in Ekiti state. The specific objectives of the study were to; equipment required for effective training of OTM students in relevant professional skills acquisition in tertiary Institutions in Ekiti state, required equipment available in OTM department for effective training of students in tertiary Institutions in Ekiti state and effect of inadequate equipment in the training of OTM students in tertiary Institutions in Ekiti state. The researcher used a survey method to selected 120 OTM graduates of Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti. using simple random sampling 60 graduates were sampled. The researcher used self-administered questionnaires. The finding revealed that inadequate equipment has a negative effect on the training of OTM students in tertiary Institutions in Ekiti state, as it reduces the addequate training the students deseeves, which render the students to be half baked graduates in the business world. The researcher concluded that All relevant and needed equipment for training the OTM students should be provided to the department by the institutional management so that their social image can increase due to the production of well trained graduate, that will be possible due to the provided equipment. Lastly, the researcher recommended; management of the institution should find means of providing funds for the OTM department, that will help them purchase quality instructional materials to instruct the students with..
