USE AND RELEVANCE OF ONLINE INFORMATION RESOURCES ONSTUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE, OSUN STATE
Abstract
This research work is set-out to investigate the extent of use and relevance of online information resources to students needs in Academic library. It emphasize the relevance of online information resources to student needs in academic library, research of survey was adopted using questionnaire as major instrument, 133 questionnaire forms were administered to the respondents of the collection of data, simple percentage was used in data analysis and the result presented in tabular form, chapter two reviews what the topic is talking about, chapter three deals with the method adopted in the research work, finding and discussion were outlined, it is observed from the finding that the Online information resources have a lot of gains to the students which usually are information processors and disseminators are in the best position to provide good online services to students with new technologies. Finally the following appropriate recommendations were put forward by the researcher. Polytechnic should increase budgetary allocations to libraries in order to provide enough computers that will serve the user population. There should be more online training facilities should be provided to students in order to equip them on how to use online information resources.
