Abstract

The escalating sophistication of cyber threats demands efficient reporting mechanisms to mitigate risks and strengthen cyber security resilience. This project develops a mobile application to streamline cyber security incident reporting, addressing critical gaps in existing systems, including fragmentation, complexity, and delayed response times. Built with React Native for cross-platform compatibility and Node.js and Mongo DB for backend functionality, the application features an intuitive user interface, real-time reporting capabilities, anonymous submission options, and threat categorization. Robust security measures include AES-256 encryption, TLS/SSL protocols, and multi-factor authentication to ensure data integrity and user privacy. Literature analysis reveals the growing complexity of cyber threats and identifies mobile applications as pivotal tools for incident reporting, while highlighting persistent challenges in data security and user engagement. Performance evaluation through beta testing demonstrated high usability (92% approval) and responsiveness (400ms API response time). Future enhancements should incorporate AI-driven threat classification, integration with national cyber security agencies like Nigeria's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), and multilingual support. This project contributes significantly to cyber security awareness by providing individuals and organizations with an accessible tool for prompt threat reporting, fostering collaborative cyber defense.
