Abstract

ABSTRACT The advancement of information and communication technology (ICT) has greatly influenced the management of academic records, yet many schools in Nigeria still rely on manual result processing methods that are time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient. This project, titled Design and Implementation of an Online Student Result Management System: A Case Study of Hope Academy, Lafia, focuses on the development of a computerized system that automates the storage, computation, and retrieval of student academic results. The system is designed using the Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) and developed with PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL as the backend database. Key features include student registration, result entry by teachers, automatic grade computation, secure authentication, and real-time access to results by students and administrators. By addressing both functional and non-functional requirements, the system enhances accuracy, ensures data security, reduces redundancy, and improves accessibility for authorized users. This study not only resolves challenges associated with manual result processing but also provides a scalable model for educational institutions seeking to modernize their academic record management. Ultimately, the system promotes efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the evaluation process.
