Abstract

The environmental and economic benefits of implementing a smart computerized dust bin system with GSM technology are significant. By reducing the frequency of waste collection trips, this system lowers fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to efforts to combat climate change. Additionally, the optimized routing enabled by real-time data can reduce operational costs for waste management authorities, freeing up resources that can be redirected to other critical areas. The system also promotes a cleaner and healthier urban environment by ensuring that waste is collected before it accumulates to unsanitary levels, minimizing the risk of pollution, pest infestations, and health hazards for residents. For city authorities, the ability to collect and analyze data on waste patterns provides valuable insights that can inform future planning and resource allocation, further enhancing the sustainability of urban waste management practices (Hassan et al. 2018).
