THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A HEALTH RECORD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
This project report focuses on the Design and Implementation of a Health Records
Management Information System (HRMIS), aimed at automating health record-keeping in
hospitals to improve efficiency. Built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, and MySQL, the
HRMIS manages patient records, schedules appointments, and generates billing information,
enhancing administrative workflows.
Chapter One introduces the project background, highlighting the limitations of manual recordkeeping in healthcare. It outlines the objectives, significance, and scope of the HRMIS,
emphasizing how it addresses identified challenges.
Chapter Two reviews existing health management systems such as OpenMRS, DHIS2, and
EPIC Systems. It examines their methodologies, challenges, and limitations, providing a basis
for the proposed system.
Chapter Three details the system's development using the Waterfall methodology, covering
requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing. This chapter includes system design
diagrams, flowcharts, and an architectural overview.
Chapter Four evaluates the HRMIS through user feedback and performance testing, comparing
it with manual systems. The chapter highlights the system’s improvements in accuracy and
efficiency.
