ASSESSMENT OF THE PROXIMATE AND MINERAL COMPOSITION OF NUTRACEUTICAL TEA FROM GANODERMA LUCIDUM AND PLEUROTUS OSTREATUS MUSHROOMS
Abstract
This study assessed the proximate and mineral composition of nutraceutical tea formulated from Ganoderma lucidum and Pleurotus ostreatus. Standard analytical methods were used to determine moisture, ash, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and carbohydrate contents. Mineral elements such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and sodium were also analyzed. The results revealed that the tea possesses low moisture and fat content, moderate protein levels, and high fiber and carbohydrate contents. Significant amounts of essential minerals, particularly potassium and iron, were observed. The findings suggest that the mushroom-based tea has strong potential as a nutraceutical beverage with health-promoting properties, including immune support and nutritional supplementation.
