Abstract

Abstract Diabetic patients are often present with characteristic plasma lipid and lipoprotein abnormalities, including, LDL, HDL, and elevated TC levels. Meanwhile, Stixis suaveolens (Roxb.) have been a popular folk medicine among traditional practitioners. However, there are questions about its traditional uses due to lack of scientific evidence. This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of the extract of S. suaveolens in streptozotocin-induced diabetic albino rats. The fresh Stixis suaveolens leaves were collected, rinsed in clean water, and then left to air dry at room temperature. The experiment was analyzed using standard methods. The results show that in terms of LDL levels, the high dose (75.0 ± 4.0b mg/dL), medium dose (85.0 ± 5.0b mg/dL), and low dose (95.0 ± 6.0b mg/dL) treatment groups did not show significant differences (p
