DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COLLABORATIVE E-LEARNING SYSTEM ( A CASE STUDY OF NOVENA UNIVERSITY, OGUME)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the potential of cow dung and carpet grass as feedstock for biogas production, aiming to produce biogas from cow dung and carpet grass. Objectives are to build a bio-digester, to produce digestate for soil conditioning and to test the produced gas for combustion. The significance of this study is crucial for several reasons, particularly in the fields of sustainable energy, waste management, and agriculture. And also it provide the opportunity for direct use for cooking, lightning after conversion into a secondary form of energy such as electricity or mechanical power. A digester was constructed to produce biogas from a mixture of cow dung and carpet grass under controlled anaerobic digestion conditions. Key parameters such as pH, system temperature, and retention time were monitored to understand their influence on biogas production. The result show the pH values, temperature, hydraulic retention time, feedstock composition and microbial activity. Table 2 shows The result which reveals that from day 1 to day 4 they was no production of biogas but at day 5 a fast expansion of the bio-digester with hight temperature which shows the generation/presence of methane gas. The biogas was tested via combustion and it was successful with a blue flame. This study highlighted the potential of using cow dung and carpet grass for biogas production, contributing to sustainable energy solutions and waste management strategies.
