Abstract

ABSTRACT The research is a feminist study of Morrison The Bluest Eye and KaineAgary’sYellow-Yellow. In line with this, attention is given to the manner in which the authors present social issues in the texts that bother on race, identity and gender and feminism in a peculiar narrative angle. These issues are addressed in the texts from a unique point of view that relies heavily on the authors’ exploit of the American slang and Nigerian pidgin respectively. To achieve this, the research examines the abuse of women on the basis of their sex, the racial abuse of Africans, particularly women, wife battering in marriages, sexual exploitation of women, identity and white supremacy as thematic concerns of the novels. Therefore, these issues are studied from the feminist theoretical point of through a qualitative literary analysis methodology. Thus, the findings of the research reveal that the chosen authors and the texts have a unique freminist sensibility that truly defines the creative expertise of the authors. This leads to the conclusion that apart from the thematic issues of race, identity, gender, culture, politics and others that inform the writing of the novels, there is in the novel a unique narrative attribute that truly defines the artistic inclinations of the authors as a unique feminists.
