Abstract

ABSTRACT This project presents the design and implementation of a web-based e-ticketing system tailored for Dara Food at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU). The e-ticketing system aims to streamline food ordering and ticket redemption processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing customer wait times. The system provides a user-friendly interface for customers to browse the menu, place orders, and receive digital tickets, which can be redeemed at the food outlet using a QR code. The backend leverages PHP and MySQL for server-side operations, with a three-tier architecture ensuring scalability and maintainability. Functional requirements include user registration, ticket purchasing, redemption, and order history management, while non-functional requirements emphasize security, performance, and scalability. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, ensuring structured progression through the phases of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Performance evaluations conducted using load testing tools, such as Apache JMeter, showed that the system could handle up to 150 concurrent users with a response time of under 2 seconds. User testing revealed a 60% reduction in queue times and a significant improvement in order accuracy. The system’s modular design allows for future enhancements, such as mobile application integration and the inclusion of SMS notifications. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the adoption of digital tools in food service environments and suggests future directions for system enhancement, such as AI-based recommendations and mobile app development.
