THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN BAUCHI STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examined the relationship between conflict management and organizational growth, focusing on how effective conflict management strategies influence the performance and expansion of organizations. Using a quantitative research design, a structured questionnaire was administered to 168 respondents drawn from various departments of the selected organization. The main objectives of the study were, to assess the extent to which conflict management strategies influence organizational growth, examine the types of conflict management approaches used within the organization, and determine the relationship between effective conflict resolution and employee productivity. Data collected through the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between effective conflict management and organizational growth. Specifically, organizations that adopt proactive conflict resolution strategies such as collaboration, negotiation, and mediation reported higher levels of employee satisfaction, productivity, and long-term growth. Furthermore, the study showed that unresolved conflicts negatively affect staff morale, decision-making, and the overall performance of the organization. Based on these findings, the study recommends that organizations should institutionalize structured conflict management policies, provide periodic training for managers and employees on conflict resolution skills, and encourage participatory approaches to problem-solving. Such strategies would help in mitigating workplace disputes and in turn foster sustainable organizational growth
