DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
Inventory management is a critical component of operational efficiency in any organization,
particularly within academic institutions where diverse resources must be tracked, allocated,
and maintained. This study focuses on the design and implementation of a computerized
inventory management system tailored for Veritas University, aimed at replacing the
existing manual system that has proven to be error-prone, time-consuming, and inefficient.
The research employed structured observation, interviews, and system analysis to identify
key challenges in the current inventory workflow. Based on the findings, a web-based
inventory system was developed using modern technologies including Node.js, MySQL, and
secure authentication protocols. The system features real-time stock tracking, automated
report generation, centralized data access, and role-based user control, all designed to
enhance accuracy, speed, and decision-making capabilities.
Testing and evaluation confirmed the system’s effectiveness in reducing human error,
improving data integrity, and streamlining inventory operations. The project contributes to
the field of computer science by demonstrating how digital transformation can optimize
resource management in educational environments. Recommendations for future research
include integrating mobile access, predictive analytics, and IoT-based tracking to further
enhance system functionality
