DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONLINE SALES OF ACADEMIC MATERIALS A STUDY OF IMAP CONSULT BOOKSHOP
Abstract
This study titled Design and Implementation of Online Sales of Academic Materials: A Case Study of IMAP Consult Bookshop focuses on addressing the inefficiencies of the existing manual system characterized by time wastage, poor record keeping, slow services, and limited accessibility to academic resources. The objective was to design and implement a web-based system that ensures fast, secure, and reliable access to academic materials, enabling students to register, search, order, and purchase books online, while providing administrators with tools for managing books, categories, users, and generating sales reports. The Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) was adopted, involving feasibility study, system investigation, requirement definition, and logical as well as physical design, with data obtained through observation, interviews, and document review. The system was developed using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL as the database management system. It is recommended that future enhancements integrate secure online payment gateways, improve mobile responsiveness for wider accessibility, and ensure regular maintenance and user training to maximize efficiency and usability.
